Event Description:

The Pirate Alumni Road Race presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield NC starts and finishes in front of Chico's Mexican restaurant in uptown Greenville. The 5K course is out and back, passing East Carolina University. In 2008, 142 runners finished the 5K. The event is organized by the East Carolina Alumni Association and raises money towards student scholarships. All proceeds from the Pirate Alumni Road Race and Fun Run benefit East Carolina Alumni Association scholarships. The Alumni Association annually awards deserving ECU undergraduate students with $1,000 scholarships to be used in the following academic year. To date, the Alumni Association has awarded 58 scholarships.
